Villagers of Pirna have issued a strong warning to Tivim MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar, threatening to boycott him from all local functions due to his continued neglect of their grievances, particularly regarding poor road conditions and alleged misuse of land. This decision was formalized in a recent gram sabha, where residents expressed frustration over the MLA’s repeated absence from meetings and his failure to address pressing local issues.
During the meeting, villagers voiced strong opposition to the proposed road widening projects, arguing that the construction of 15-meter and 25-meter-wide roads would primarily benefit outside investors rather than the local community. They also passed a resolution to prohibit land conversion for private plots exceeding 1,000 square meters, aiming to prevent large-scale land grabs. The gram sabha formed an eight-member committee to propose alternative road plans and demanded greater engagement from their elected representative, having already sent five letters urging his attendance, with no response so far.
