BICHOLIM: PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar has said the government is considering constructing a bypass road from Mapusa to Khandepar via Bicholim.
Addressing a function at Bicholim, the minister said that the government has planned to construct a new bypass road from Mapusa to Khandepar via Bicholim to ease traffic load on Bicholim town and the file of the same has been sent to the Central government for approval.
However, he said, the proposal for constructing a bypass road between Mapusa and Khandepar is facing opposition from the villagers of Mulgao, Bordem, Vhalshim and surrounding areas, as the land for the bypass will have to be acquired in these villages.
“Nevertheless, this issue will be sorted out with the intervention of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Speaker Rajesh Patnekar who will meet the villagers to convince them to give their land for the betterment of the larger population,” he said.
