BICHOLIM: A cashew plantation was on Friday gutted in fire at Sarvan-Bicholim, causing a loss of Rs 3 lakh.
The incident occurred due to a short circuit and about 200 cashew trees belonging to Tulshidas Sawant, Yeshwant sawant and Parshuram Sawant from Sarvan Bicholim was destroyed in the fire.
A Bicholim fire brigade, under the guidance of SFO Shripad Gawas, managed to extinguish the fire after battling the flames for over an hour.
