He said even warned of action against those vendors operating outside the market who are yet to clear their sopo dues.
The PMC ordinary meeting held on Wednesday held discussions on various development works.
He said PMC provides vendors free shed, light and water to vendors and added that the encroachments on footpaths in PMC market area will be cleared.
He said footpaths should be kept open for pedestrians and added that PMC will get back around 8000 square meters of its aframent land at Santa Cruz, grabbed by some persons through sale deeds.
He informed that upto January 16, the municipality recovered around Rs 2.33 crore pending rent dues from shops and four scrap yards were cleared from the land which will be used for recreation purposes.
Naik said 750 trade licences have been blocked due to non-renewal and fines will be imposed on defaulters.
He said that the market vendors will be shifted for construction of a new palika bazaar.
He said the PMC has decided to provide income certificates online and offline as it was noticed that people were losing money in online mode due to server and connectivity issues.
A five-member committee headed by Venkatesh Naik was also appointed to look into traffic, parking problems near Vishal Mart. The panel will submit a report to the council to solve the issue.
He said the pay parking system will be introduced for Ponda soon as the demarcation is in the
final stage.
