PONDA: Despite the imposition of substantial fines, traffic violations in Ponda Taluka continue to rise, prompting the Traffic Cell to collect Rs 2.20 crore in fines from 36,960 violations over the past nine months. Traffic Cell PI Krishna Sinari revealed that as many as 4,600 licenses have been recommended for suspension due to various traffic violations.
Among the most common violations are over speeding, with fines issued to 2,200 vehicles. Additionally, 133 cases have been recorded for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 2,035 bikers received fines for riding without helmets. Fines have also been issued for violations such as parking in no-parking zones, dangerous parking, and minors driving vehicles.

To combat over speeding, two interceptors have been deployed along the Banastarim and Mollem Highway, resulting in numerous challans being issued to drivers of speeding vehicles.
