PANJIM: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte on Friday criticised the functioning of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant led government saying that what the chief minister has given the State is only loans.
Khaunte has also slammed the chief minister for his stand on the Zilla Parishad elections wherein he postponed the polls by just two days.
“The highlight of Sawant government has been borrowings. He has completely failed in his one year of tenure. This government has burdened the Goans with loans to future youth to repay them,” Khaunte said addressing a press conference in the city.
Khaunte said that under Sawant the economy has gone to the dogs with tourism at all time low and no sign of mining resumption.
“There are absolutely no revenue generation ideas. I am told the excise fee hike has also been rolled back. Where will the revenue come from?” he asked.
“Consider Mhadei, the issue has been so casually handled. Today, Goa has lost Mhadei,” he added.
The independent MLA said that the Chief Minister is just dancing to the diktats of the Central leaders and saving his chair. On Zilla Parishad elections, Khaunte said that the Chief Minister failed to even show concern towards his own citizens.
“Postponing elections by two days seems to be some kind of a joke. We cancelled our meetings as a precautionary measure for Coronavirus outbreak but the Chief Minister who has been telling the public not have mass gatherings has himself addressed many meetings after that. This shows his seriousness,” he stated.
