PORVORIM: Allotting Rs 4 lakh towards funeral compensation to the nearest heir on the death of a component, Rs 10 lakh to purchase a new vehicle and Rs 5 lakh for the special attorney has upset a number of Gaonkars of Serula Communidade.
Porvorim police is now investigating into the proposed budgetary provisions by the Serula communidade, following a police complaint lodged by Serula Communidade President Joseph Pinto.
In his complaint, Pinto stated that the minutes of the extra-ordinary general body meeting held on June 22 had been fabricated and his signature had been forged.
“I was not aware of the private account opened with a bank in Porvorim by the Serula Communidade in respect of Serula Communidade complex. The matter regarding permission to two persons to operate and sign cheques of the private account was not discussed at the meeting, but it appeared in the minutes of the meeting,” Pinto said.
“The issue of regularization of plots was also not discussed in the meeting, but names of 12 applicants, who applied for plots to be regularized, appeared in the minutes,” added Pinto.
The complainant further stated that he did not sign the minutes of the general body meeting. “The clerk had taken down the minutes of the meeting on a paper and not on the minutes book. The issues were manipulated and written later,” said Pinto.
In his complaint, Pinto also enclosed the budgetary proposals for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15 which states payments towards the special attorney of the Communidade of Serula (Rs 5 lakh), purchase of new vehicle (Rs 10 lakh), restoration of Chavdi (Rs 25 lakh), unforeseen expenditure towards miscellaneous items (Rs 25 lakh), payments towards funeral compensation to be paid to the nearest heir after the death of the component (Rs 4 lakh) and payments towards petrol/diesel for the vehicle of the Serula Communidade (Rs 3 lakh).
Acting on the complaint, Porvorim Police registered an offence under Sections 466, 468 and 471 of Indian Penal Code against “the unknown accused persons suspected to the staff of Serula Communidade’. Police Sub Inspector Somanath J Mahajik is investigating the case.
