PANJIM: The President of India Ram Nath Kovind will be on a two-day visit to Goa on July 7-8 to attend the much-awaited convocation ceremony of Goa University. The State will also host a civic reception as this is his first visit to Goa after assuming India’s highest ceremonial post.
While his schedule for the second day is still not finalised, as the State government is awaiting confirmation from the Rashtrapati Bhavan; two functions are confirmed on his day-one visit.
“He will arrive in Goa at 7am and proceed to GU for convocation ceremony. The Government of Goa has decided to honour him with a civic reception as this is his first visit to Goa,” Director of the Information & Publicity T S Sawant told a press conference on Wednesday.
The department, which is entrusted with the task to ensure arrangements during the President’s two-day visit, is awaiting approval from the Rashtrapati Bhavan over further his engagements in the State.
