MARGAO: A fire reported at an industrial unit at the Nessai Industrial estate caused a loss of nearly Rs 3 crore on Thursday.
Fire station received a call about the incident at around 9.30 am informing them that the shade of a company manufacturing fibre parts and vehicle coaches caught fire. Margao fire station team had a tough time as the flames kept rising at over 50 feet. The personnel began fire fighting operations but soon realised that the fire could not be contained.
It took 22 fire tenders and over 80,000 litres of water to contain the fire which went on till late evening.
It was reported that a part of the industrial shade collapsed inside, which made the fire fighting operations difficult. The team of fire fighters were still at site till night trying to douse the fire.
The fire department personnel have estimated the loss to be nearly Rs 3 crore.
