PONDA: The Parents-Teachers’ Association of the Government Primary School at Kelbay Tambdi at Curti Khandepar Panchayat met and expressed its apprehension over a huge tree which is dangerously poised and may collapse any time on the school building. They demanded government action soon before damage is done.
The PTA members Ulhas Gurav said there are around 44 students studying in the primary school between Classes 1 to 4. The parents said that their several pleas to Government bodies have failed to evoke any response.
Three teachers are sanctioned to this school and only two are looking after four classes. One teacher has retired, however, his post is still vacant causing hardship to students. Further there are no proper toilet facilities due to which girl students have a telling time. The locals also said the students do not have a proper ground for playing and also, there isn’t any compound wall. Further, there aren’t speed breakers on the thoroughfare in front of the schools. The locals also demanded proper streetlights in their area. Some locals have temporarily shifted their wards to another school thanks to the tree which is posing as a huge threat.
When Herald asked Ponda Deputy Collector Navnath Naik, he said such dangerous trees should be cut immediately. In this matter, action will be taken and already directed Ponda Range Forest Officer to inspect the tree and submit a status report of the tree.
