PANJIM: Stating that the prior approval for installation of domestic generators (DG) is mandatory, the State Electricity department has asked all those consumers, who have illegally commissioned generators in their houses, shops or hotels, to apply for approvals within three months for regularisation.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the department has said that the prior permission of Chief Electrical Engineer and Electrical Inspector is mandatory for installing DGs.
The Department has observed that the generator sets are installed by the domestic, commercial as well as Industrial consumers without taking prior approval from the competent authority which is illegal.
The department has said that permission from Chief Electrical Engineer is mandatory to all consumers before installing generators at homes, firms, shops, hotels, factories etc., and approval from Electrical inspector before energizing or commissioning of the Domestic Generator at their premise.
As such, it has requested everyone to regularise those installation where the equipments have been already installed without obtaining approval within next three months.
