while the South Goa MP and South Goa Collector will hold a meeting with the villagers on Tuesday.
The meeting with the MP and collector is the first of four meetings lined up for the week. After the GCZMA inspection on Tuesday and TCP inspection on Wednesday – both in the presence of Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva – the crucial panchayat meeting will be held on Saturday. Locals have been invited for the inspections and the panchayat meeting.
South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar had earlier met a delegation of Cansaulim locals who were protesting a hotel project in Arossim and who participated in all three public meetings in Carmona on consecutive Sundays.
Silva and the locals, under the banner ‘Carmona Villagers Social and Welfare Forum’ (CVSWF), have already submitted their objections to the government. Collector Sachin Shinde and Sawaikar are expected to be apprised of the objections in detail.
CVSWF president Socorro Miranda informed that a group of villagers will meet Sawaikar to inform him about their objections to the project, which had been fraudulently passed by the TCP and the corrupt panchayat, and to demand that the construction licence be revoked immediately.
The panchayat minister has already left a note, while Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has forwarded the resolutions sent by Caitu and CVSWF to the chief secretary.
After Tuesday’s meeting, GCZMA will inspect the no-development zone in Tamdeg ward to assess the locals’ complaints that Raheja has planned recreational activities in the open space. Socorro Miranda had earlier filed a complaint in this matter, and it will be discussed at Saturday’s meeting.
Incidentally, there are two contradictory environment clearance reports. The former talks about vegetation destruction at the property, with instructions to Rahejas to replant five times the amount of destroyed vegetation. The second environment clearance says there were no issue as the property was bought.
The TCP inspection on Wednesday will assess the locals’ complaints about the width of the road, which is a critical matter as Carmona deputy sarpanch Orlando Da Silva has reiterated that the panchayat had granted the construction license to Rahejas only because of TCP’s clearance for the access road.
The senior town planner will also inspect the cross in the Raheja property; the cross has not been shown on the site plan while it is seen on the survey plan. The villagers have criticised the panchayat and Raheja for omitting the same. Panch Prisco Rodrigues had earlier called for a panchayat meeting to discuss the cross issue, while Orlando had claimed he had never seen the cross.
