Raw sewage discharged from the SGPDA Market in Margao has begun flowing into nearby fields, creating an unbearable stench and triggering heavy mosquito breeding in the area. Shop owners say the worsening hygiene conditions are driving customers away and threatening their livelihoods.
Concerned vendors have raised the alarm over the health hazards posed by the untreated waste and the lack of prompt action from authorities. Milagres Fernandes, speaking on behalf of the affected traders, has appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene immediately and ensure that the sewage discharge is stopped without delay.
Residents and business owners are now urging government agencies to act swiftly to prevent a potential public health crisis.
