Children Court President Vandana Tendulkar had earlier heard arguments where the police had sought Remo’s custodial interrogation as he had skipped summons twice and is a Portuguese national. However, the court granted conditional bail and asked Remo to surrender his passport so that he would not leave the country without prior permission of the investigation officer.
An FIR against Remo was registered at Agassaim Police Station on December 18 for verbally abusing a minor girl from Malvan after she was knocked down by a car driven by his son Jonah.
A case has been registered against Remo under Section 8 read with 2(m) of the Goa Children’s Act 2003 and a separate offence has been registered against his son at Mapusa Police Station for rash and negligent driving, in which he was bailed out on December 15.
According to police records Remo verbally abused the girl at Goa Medical College (GMC) on December 3 which is reflected in the statements of witnesses as well as the girl. The girl was admitted to GMC and has undergone multiple surgeries. Doctors said she will be bedridden for at least 3 to 6 months.
