PORVORIM: Carrem and Vaddem residents have requested Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte to impress upon the government to bring the areas under the Porvorim Police station jurisdiction.
Carrem and Vaddem areas of the Socorro village of Porvorim constituency presently come under the Mapusa Police station jurisdiction.
The residents have complained that they find it inconvenient to travel to Mapusa Police Station for any case-related work.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte had raised the issue in the Assembly on many occasions and had requested the government to comply with the request of the residents of Carrem and Vaddem.
He also wrote letters to police department and to the North Goa Collector in this regard.
On November 12, 2015, the Porvorim Police Station wrote a letter to Deputy Collector, Mapusa to issue an order to land survey department to conduct a survey and submit their report for further action.
Acting on the Deputy Collector’s order, the field surveyor of land and survey department Chandrashekar Chari along with the officials of the Porvorim Police station conducted a survey of Carrem and Vaddem on December 7.
Speaking to Herald, field surveyor Chari mentioned that his department would submit its report to the Deputy Collector, Mapusa shortly.
