Response to DDSY frustrating the Opposition, says BJP

Blasts Congress for criticising the scheme ’prematurely’

PANJIM: Criticising Congress leaders for their statements on the Deen Dayal Swasthya Yojana – Universal health insurance scheme – the Bharatiya Janata Party said it was getting tremendous response for it.
“There is a huge response for the scheme wherever the DSSY kendras have been launched. The opposition is frustrated with the response the scheme is generating and hence trying to criticise it,” BJP spokesperson Kiran Kandolkar said addressing the media.
Kandolkar said criticism of the scheme is uncalled for as it has just been launched and the nitty-gritty are still being worked out. “Private hospitals are yet to be empanelled, the beneficiaries are yet to be enrolled but criticism has begun,” Kandolkar said pointing to statements by GPCC President Luizinho Faleiro and Congress MLA Vishwajit Rane.
Asked why private hospitals are opposing the scheme, he replied, there is a representative of one hospital which wants to control everything. “I don’t want to name anyone but there is this one person who is spreading news in the media that the scheme is not for the common man,” he said.
Kandolkar said private hospitals are seeking more interventions and better prices, and that is being looked into. “To give more treatments to private hospital, they need to have the capacity and equipment to treat patients,” he said.
