Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that a review of the policy will be held early this week with a meeting of the concerned officials.
Speaking to Herald, Rane said, “I will be meeting the Chief Minister after the Assembly session and we will discuss the issue. As I have said, this is an important matter and we all want to be on the same page, including the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai and myself. Before meeting the CM I will sit my officials and review the matter first.”
Asked about the Export Inspection Agency (EIA) laboratory, which was to be setup in Margao, he said that due to the model code of conduct (MCC) the progress on the matter has slowed down. “Since it is a central government project there have been some delays. However, as planned we will have it in place soon. In the meeting this matter will also be discussed,” he stated.
Responding on the immediate measures he said that as decided earlier the State government will setup two of its Food and Drug Administration (FDA) labs on the borders, one each at Patradevi and Pollem.
