Vasco: Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, 75 years of India’s Independence was celebrated with sense of unity and patriotism jointly by the Sao Jacinto islanders and Indian Navy personnel, on Sunday. This put an end to the recent controversy about the flag hoisting on the island.
On the Independence Day morning, the Indian Navy and the Sao Jacinto islanders came together and celebrated the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav that is the Diamond Jubilee celebration of India’s independence, which was celebrated across the country with great pride.
The Indian Navy personnel along with the islanders hoisted the national flag, offered salutation and also sang the National Anthem in sync.
Captain Viriato Fernandes said, “Today’s function of Independence Day which was celebrated by the Indian Navy and the Sao Jacinto islanders was memorable.”
