Dabhal-Kirlapal Sarpanch Rama Gaonkar survived a no-confidence motion by a whisker, after the votes were tied at 4-4 in the nine-member panchayat.
Five panchas had moved the no-confidence motion against Gaonkar and those who voted in favour of the motion were Damodar Bandekar, Ishwar Kuttikar, Shanti Gaonkar and Nita Gaonkar. Prakash Velip, who was among those who had signed the no-confidence motion, did not attend the meeting.
Sarpanch Rama Gaonkar, Mohan Gaonkar, Ramesh Velgnekar and Sukanti Gaonkar voted against the motion.
