Save Old Goa files intervention application before High Court

PANJIM: The Save Old Goa Action Committee (SOGAC) on Tuesday filed an intervention application before the High Court of Bombay at Goa in the Old Goa illegal bungalow case. 

While alleging that the petitioner – Corvus Urban Infra LLP, has obtained permissions by misrepresentation of facts, the SOGAC has filed an application to be impleaded into the case as respondent.

The SOGAC in its intervention application stated, “The petitioner in the above said petition have on misrepresentation of facts have obtained permissions under the ancient monuments of Archeological Sites and Remains Act, 1959, for repairs of the house located in protected area of two Centrally protected monuments ie Church of Cajetan and Viceroy’s Arch.” 

It may be recalled that Corvus Urban Infra LLP had filed a petition before the High Court seeking relief from the various orders that halted the work of the controversial bungalow at Old Goa. The court had later quashed the revocation of technical clearance order by the Se Old Goa Village Panchayat, Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department and also the demolition order of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) against the work of the bungalow.
