According to Canacona police, the accident occurred at about 8 pm when the scooter (GA-10-B-1886) and the motorcycle (GA-08-B-9688) collided head-on near Matoshri Hotel, Galgibaga.
Police further informed that one of the two-wheeler riders, Pratik Pagi died on the spot, while another rider Gourish Naik (30) of Kolsar-Galgibaga was shifted to Hospicio in Margao in a serious condition.
Naik was earlier rushed to CHC Canacona, from where he was referred to Hospicio in Margao.
According to the locals, several foreign tourists staying nearby rushed to the spot along with some locals and tried to revive the duo. One was lying on the road in a pool of blood, while another was flung into the fields.
Lifeguards at nearby Galgibaga beach also rushed to the site and provided oxygen to one of the injured riders, before he was shifted to CHC Canacona in a car. The other injured rider, who was almost lifeless, was taken in a rickshaw, but was declared dead on arrival at CHC Canacona.
