PANJIM: The Se Old Goa Village Panchayat on Monday carried out inspection of two structures in survey numbers 21/1, 22/1 and 22/2 at Ella, Old Goa as per directions of the Tiswadi Block Development Officer (BDO).

The BDO had asked the village panchayat to carry out inspections of the structures in connection with an appeal filed by M/s Sweta Real Estate Private Limited and to submit a detailed report along with photographs of the inspected structures and house numbers before the next date of hearing fixed on November 7.
Accordingly, the panchayat carried out the inspection. After the inspection, former Se Old Goa deputy sarpanch and present panchayat member Vishwas Kuttikar said that the panchayat had received three complaints regarding house numbers given to some structures. He said that in the past on two occasions, the appellant had refused the panchayat to carry out inspection following which the panchayat passed a resolution to revoke all house numbers.
Kuttikar said that M/s Sweta Real Estate Private Limited later filed an appeal before the Tiswadi, BDO, which directed the village panchayat to carry out inspection in the three given survey numbers.
“As per BDO’s instruction, we carried out inspection and found two structures and third in ruins without compound walls. The panchayat secretary will submit inspection report to the BDO,” Kuttikar said.
Glen Cabral, a resident, said that earlier the builder had refused permission to inspect the area. Due to this, the panchayat had revoked all house numbers. He said barring two structures, that he will now demand disconnection of electricity and water connections to non-existent structures.
