PANJIM: The seafarers who disembarked at Mumbai will have to undergo another COVID-19 test once their ship docks at Mormugao Port Trust (MPT). The Goa government has also decided to complete their testing within 24 hours.

“We intend to complete testing of all seafarers within 24 hours of their arrival. They shall remain in the ship till we get the results of their tests. Secretary Health will monitor to ensure tests are conducted seamlessly and our seafarers are sent home safely,” Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said in a tweet on Friday morning.
A total of 189 Goan crew members on board three ships – 93 on Discovery, 66 on Karnika and 23 on Angriya – disembarked at Mumbai port on Thursday after the Ministry of Home Affairs issued the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for signing off of the seafarers.
The seafarers underwent a COVID-19 test on the ship, followed by another test after docking at the Mumbai port. They will then be brought to Goa and tested yet again.
