VASCO: Anticipating tension in the port city on account of the Vasco bandh by the Mormugao Taluka Action Committee (MTAC) on Tuesday, the Vasco police have invoked Section 149 CrPC (prevention of cognizable offences), warning action against those forcing businessmen to down their shutters.
Vasco police issued the notice under Section 149 late Monday evening, after anticipating that many agitators could force the traders and establishments to close their premises on Tuesday.
The police have also threatened to arrest those disrupting law and order in Vasco.
Aware of possible tension in Vasco, given the fact that the proposed Vasco bandh is being supported and opposed by rival politicians and their supporters, Vasco police informed that a strong police force will be deployed in Vasco and other areas to maintain law and order in the area.
