CURCHOREM: A 71-year-old resident of Shirford, Curchorem died on the spot in an accident reported at Morailem, Curchorem on Monday.
According to Curchorem PSI Sanit Kavlekar, the deceased — Ambadathvallvppil Krishnan Gopi was proceeding on his bike from Shivaji Circle to Sanvordem. On reaching the church junction at Morailem, an ore laden truck, while trying to overtake Gopi, knocked him down. Gopi was crushed under the wheels of the truck.
The PSI informed that driver Luis Joaquim Araujo (53) from Fatorda has been arrested and the Gopi’s body has been preserved at Hospicio Hospital, Margao for postmortem.
