PANJIM: The inspection of beach shacks by a team comprising officials from the Tourism Department, Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority and Goa State Pollution Control Board commenced on Tuesday. The survey of the remaining shacks, which have been completed and fitted with toilet facilities and system to treat kitchen waste, which is mandatory as per the rules, will be carried out on Wednesday.
“Inspection of the shacks began today (Tuesday), however, not all could be inspected. It will continue tomorrow when the other shacks will be covered,” said an official. This process will be followed by submission of reports, based on which Tourism Department will decide on granting final permission to start operations.
Only around 40 percent of the shack operators have been able to erect shacks, the delay is being attributed to intense rainfall and shortage of manpower.
