VASCO: Nearly six months after he was asked to report to the Vasco Railway Police Station (RPS), PSI Sherif Jacques was finally relieved from the Agasaim Police Station to charge of his new assignment at the RPS.
According to sources, the DGP in his order dated January 8 directed PSI Jacques to take charge of the Vasco railway police station with immediate effect.
When contacted, Mormugao Sub Divisional Police Officer Laurence D’Souza confirmed to Herald that PSI Jacques had taken charge of the railway police station on Wednesday.
The presence of PSI Jacques to head the Railway Police Station will be a blessing to the Vasco Police Station, as it has been hit by acute staff shortage to send senior policemen to supervise the Dabolim Airport police outpost and the RPS.
Herald had earlier reported that PSI Jacques could not take charge of the RPS for about six months as he was serving elsewhere in the State. PSI Jacques had earlier claimed: “I will be happy to work at the RPS, but my seniors should relieve me of my duties to take charge of the RPS.”
