PANJIM: The District Collectors of North and South Goa on Sunday issued orders invoking Section 144 following the announcement made by the Chief Minister late Saturday evening about the State level curfew being extended again, until June 28 with some new relaxations.

The positivity rate has dropped to 8.4 per cent. The curfew was first imposed on May 9 and has been extended several times since then, as the state witnessed its positivity rate reaching a high of 51 percent before dipping gradually.
The Collectors listed the activities/establishments/facilities/ events that shall be prohibited or restricted from June 21, 7 am to June 28, 7 am.
As per the new notification, shops in shopping malls and fish markets allowed to open from 7 am to 3 pm. However, cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, entertainment zones to remain closed.
The essential services are exempt from the curfew, while operations of casinos, bars, restaurants, shops, river cruises, schools, colleges, educational institutions etc will continue to remain shut.
Social/political/sports/academic/cultural functions and other congregations (except for events with the permission of the government) have been banned. However, a marriage function with 50 people or less is permitted with the approval of DM/SDM, cremation with 20 people or less is permitted.
During the period inter-state travel is also prohibited except for those carrying COVID negative certificate which must be issued 72 hours before travel. Those entering Goa for medical purpose and goods carriers will be permitted to have two drivers and one helper only. However, the police or the other authorities will scan such persons with the thermal guns to see whether they display any symptoms and if they display any symptoms, then the police or other authorities have the authority to deny access to such persons in the State. Use of buses is also prohibited except for people going for duty and medical emergencies, with a maximum capacity of 50%.
