PANJIM: A day after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant relaxed lockdown, six institutions have been identified as quarantine facilities. In North Goa, seven places including four of Goa Tourism Development Corporation run residencies will now serve as quarantine centres.
Acron Seaway Resort at Candolim, Hotel Ginger at Patto and GTDC residencies at Mayem, Mapusa, Calangute and Old Goa besides Youth Hostel at Campal are the identified institutions.
In separate requisition orders, North District Collector R Menaka has asked the management of these institutions to hand over their possession to respective Deputy Collector/Sub Divisional Magistrates of Bardez, Tiswadi and Bicholim with immediate effect till further orders. “There is a need to prepare quarantine facilities in North Goa District in view of the prevailing health emergency due to the spread of COVID-19, an infectious disease caused by Coronavirus,” the order reads as.
The Collector has also warned that contravention of the order will attract action under section 57 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The administration has also appointed officials to make necessary arrangements including housekeeping, security, food, etc.
