The officer in question, Rahul Naik, alleged that the driver of a Maruti car ( GA-02-J-7757) under the influence of alcohol, crashed his car into a parked vehicle near Geeta Bakery.
The driver, Shivanand Shet, along with the other occupants – Khwaja Attar (20), Ibrahim Khan (18), Amin Badekhan (20), Allabaksh Hazarathsaab (22), and a 17-year-old minor– were intercepted near the Panjim church square after a short pursuit from the Miramar circle.
“The control room received information about the car being driven near Miramar circle. The PSI on duty was sent to intercept the car and it was traced near Geeta Bakery, when the driver hit a parked car and fled. The officer chased the accused and intercepted them near the church,” a police official said.
After begin intercepted, Khwaja, Allabaksh and the juvenile manhandled the PSI. They were later arrested and taken to the Panjim police station. The minor was sent to Apna Ghar.
