Amongst the many questions locals have been asking (see box), locals question if money had exchanged hands given that the structures at the film shoot site, like the Head Regulator of Chapoli dam or the railings were painted just a day before the shoot took place.
Enquiries with the Water Resources Department (WRD) officials revealed that the work order to paint the structure was issued last year and the work was supposed to be completed in 15 days.
The concerned department was not able to satisfactorily answer how the contractor, who was issued the work order, last year, could paint it this year (just in time for the shoot) when he was supposed to finish the painting work in 15 days time much earlier.
With no satisfactory answer to this and the other questions, the agitating public had announced a total market shut down and closure of the national highway on November 5, which was the 3rd day after a formal complaint, had been lodged with the police.
Finally, there was action from the top. The Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes then confirmed that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had informed him that the Canacona Police Inspector and a constable, who were allegedly at the dam gate while the shooting was taking place, were being suspended.
