Sopte appointed GTDC chairman

PANJIM: Fulfilling its promise, the government on Thursday reconstituted the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), appointing Dayanand Sopte as the chairman. 
Sopte, who crossed over to BJP from Congress last month, was promised with GTDC chairmanship. And accordingly, Nilesh Cabral resigned as the chairman on Thursday morning.
“In terms of Article 107 of the Articles of Association of Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (hereinafter called the said corporation), the Governor of Goa is pleased to reconstitute the Board of Directors of the Company and appoint the following persons as Directors of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation Limited with immediate effect,” the notification issued by Sanjiv Gadkar, Director of Tourism says. 
As per the notification following are the board members – Dayanad Sopte, Dr Shrikant Azgaonkar, Dr M Muddasir, Joel Fernandes, Pallavi Shirodkar, Earl Braganza, Paresh Kenkre, Madhav S Sheti Desai, Secretary (Tourism), Director (Tourim), President (TTAG), Managing Director (GTDC).
“In terms of Article 117 of the Article of Association of Goa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd, Governor of Goa further nominates Dayanand Sopte, Director as Chairman of the Corporation,” the notification further reads.
