MARGAO: Five separate fire incidents were reported in Salcete, with dry grass catching fire and causing damage. Firefighters suspect arson, and have initiated a probe into identifying the culprits. At Monte Hill, Margao, fire near a mobile tower’s DG set caused Rs 5,000 loss, but Rs 10 lakh worth of property was saved. Sub-officers NV Takkar and AA Tate attended.
In Verna, fire broke out near Hotel Antique, tackled by Sub-officer Hubert Fernandes.

Monte Hill’s Nagesh Garden fire was controlled by RS Khutkhar’s team. Fires at Nagoa’s bypass highway and near a house in Raia were also extinguished.
