PORVORIM: Porvorim Police have arrested a St Cruz resident for trespass, assault, and demolition of a hut near Dona Leonard Memorial High School, Porvorim on Saturday. The accused Sebastian Vaz was later released on bail.
According to information, the hut owner Saira Shiledar had filed a complaint with Porvorim Police stating that Vaz and his associates assaulted her sons and later demolished her hut with a JCB machine, thereby causing a loss of Rs 90,000.
PI Brendon de Souza informed that upon receiving the complaint, they investigated the matter and registered offences against Vaz under Sections 448, 427, 323, and 504 read with Section 34 of IPC; he was later arrested and released on bail.
However, Vaz has claimed that the complainant had built the hut illegally on his property, and hence, he had demolished the same. He has also produced the documents of his property.
Porvorim Police have written to various authorities, such as the Serula Comunidade and Penha de Franca panchayat, to confirm Vaz’s claims. PI de Souza stated that action will be taken based on their replies.
Meanwhile, Shiledar’s daughters, Zeenat and Anisha, who are Std X students of Government High School, Betim, are unable to study as they have no shelter. Their teachers mentioned that both girls are good in studies and score high marks in exams.
