St Cruz local held for raping Merces girl

Old Goa Police on Tuesday arrested a 24-year-old resident of St Cruz on charges of raping a 19-year-old girl from Merces.
In her complaint, the victim told Old Goa Police that the accused Albert Dias came to her house on August 12 at about 12.30 am and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
Acting on the complaint filed by the victim on Tuesday afternoon, Old Goa Police arrested Albert Dias under Section 376 Indian Penal Code.
Police further informed that the victim and accused were sent to Goa Medical College Hospital in Bambolim for medical examination and the report was awaited.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Old Goa Police Inspector Francis Xavier Corte.
