State moves HC to cancel bail for Luthra Brothers

PANJIM: The State government is likely to file a criminal application before the High Court of Bombay at Goa for cancellation of the bail applications of Luthra Brothers –Saurabh and Gaurav.

During the hearing of a criminal application (main) filed by the Goa Police against Ajay Gupta, Additional Public Prosecutor Adv Swati Kamat Wagh submitted that she is getting instructions to file cancellation of bail applications for the co-accused, namely the Luthra brothers. She informed the Court that in the interest of justice and expediency, the applications relating to all the accused should be heard together.

Adv Rohan Desai, appearing for Ajay Gupta, was permitted to file his reply in the Registry and also to place additional documents on record.

The matter has now been listed before the vacation bench on May 20.

The Goa police are seeking cancellation of the bails granted to Luthra Brothers and Ajay Gupta, who were arrested in connection with the major fire at the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub at Arpora last December. They have been accused of submitting forged documents to the authorities.
