STP work begins at Kesarval

PANJIM: The works of the first Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) commenced at Kesarval in Cortalim Constituency on Saturday with the local MLA Anton Vas appealing to the villagers to give their land for the construction of the STPs in all the village panchayats under the Swaccha Bharat Mission.

Vas said that the STP was the need of the hour in the constituency since many people were discharging sewage in the open causing filth and he had receivd several complaints. The first STP will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 55 lakh and more STPs will be constructed in other panchayats depending upon the availability of land.

Vas appealed to the appeal to the people not to discharge the sewage in the fields or open areas.
