MARGAO: Through an initiative named ‘Mission Manipur’, Street Providence Trust is set to extend financial assistance to the student community in Manipur who have been adversely impacted by the ongoing caste violence in the region.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Donald Fernandes of Street Providence said that a significant number of students in Manipur are facing dire financial challenges, particularly in paying their fees amidst the turmoil.

Fernandes highlighted the proactive response received from the parishioners of Navelim when the trust reached out for assistance. He expressed the trust’s commitment to support approximately 300 students currently rendered homeless, and residing in the camps in Manipur.
The contributions from Goa will encompass not only their educational fees but also essentials such as boarding and lodging expenses, as well as some food provisions.
“Our efforts will focus on aiding students by covering their school fees, as well as providing necessary support for their accommodation and meals. A stock of provisions is scheduled to be dispatched to Manipur on September 15,” Fernandes added.
In light of their mission, Fernandes urged various social organisations and groups affiliated with churches to step forward and contribute to the cause.
