SANGUEM: The PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar has instructed the officials concerned to immediately repair the roads in Sanguem and lay pipelines for regular water supply to all the villages in the taluka.
The minister issued the instruction during a meeting he held with PWD and water supply department officials at Selaulim Water Treatment plant, on Friday. Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar also attended the meeting.
Dhavlikar also instructed the officials of JICA Water Treatment Plant and PWD to work hand in hand to ease the problems faced by the people in Sanguem. He said that both these departments should work in tandem on important projects even if the flow of cash is hindered.
At the meeting, it was also resolved to immediately finalize the plans to make provisions for two independent 2 MLD drinking water supply projects. It is pertinent to note here that the work of laying the pipeline to supply drinking water from Selaulim Dam is underway and is expected to be completed soon.
Incidentally, despite the villagers residing at Wadem have sacrificed their ancestral lands at Curdi village to pave way for the construction of the Selaulim Dam, the rehabilitated villagers at Wadem continue to face acute drinking water problems during the summer.
Sanguem MLA Gaonkar urged the PWD minister for the construction of water storage tanks at Molcopon and Catamol to solve the drinking water problems faced by the people living there.
Later, Dhavlikar directed the PWD officials to explore the feasibility of construction of water tanks in Molcopon and Catamol as suggested by the MLA.
At the meeting, Dhavlikar also claimed that the hot mixing of the road from Borim to Margao which is in total mess will be completed by end of December with no further deadlines. Dhavlikar also claimed that work of laying mud for the construction of small bridges in the hilly areas of Bomod, Kumari, Mangal and Valshem in Sanguem taluka will also be undertaken soon.
At the meeting, discussions were also held pertaining to the Government Office Complex and Government School buildings in Sanguem. Dhavlikar directed the PWD officials to prepare due estimates pertaining to the building of infrastructure facilities at government buildings and schools in Sanguem taluka.
Dhavlikar assured that he would take the local MLA Gaonkar into confidence while undertaking all non-planned works in the taluka.
