PONDA: In a bid to reduce traffic chaos due to parking of trucks along the bypass roads in Ponda, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar has announced the government’s plan to allot about 50,000 sq mtrs for a truck parking plaza.
Dhavlikar was speaking after inaugurating the renovated building of Shree Mahalaxmi at Talavlim-Ponda.
“At present, many trucks are seen parked along the bypass roads in Ponda, causing traffic chaos,” he said.
“The government has acquired about 1.20 lakh sq mtrs of land at Shapoor-Ponda for development activities, of which the government plans to allot about 50,000 sq mtrs for truck parking plaza,” said Dhavlikar.
“Some land will be given to create driving track for drivers learning to drive vehicles. The government has also proposed to the Central government to widen the Dhavli-Farmagudi bypass road into four-lane so that frequent accidents on this stretch will be minimised,” added Dhavlikar.
Talavlim Sarpanch Dilesh Gaonkar, Kavlem Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar, ZP Poornima Naik, school Chairman Vishwanath Sawant, Headmaster Shanudas Sawant and others were present on the occasion.
