The Supreme Court of India has issued notice to the Government of Goa in a Special Leave Petition (SLP) challenging the selection process for the post of Technical Assistant (Civil) conducted by the Goa State Staff Selection Commission.
The petition contests the ruling of the High Court of Bombay at Goa, which had upheld the recruiting body’s decision to use the first tier of the examination only for shortlisting candidates, without adding its marks to the final selection test.
Advocate Sahil Sardesai, counsel for the petitioner, stated that the SLP raises concerns over the fairness and transparency of the recruitment process, particularly the exclusion of first-tier marks from the final merit calculation.
With the Supreme Court issuing notice, the matter is now set to be examined at the national level, and further proceedings are awaited.
