PONDA: Irked over the digging up of the main road for laying sewerage pipelines, which has caused inconvenience to the public, Ponda residents have demanded that the work in front of Almeida High School be taken up during Christmas holidays.
The residents have complained that town has been witnessing traffic congestion on account of the work of rood digging being taken up along the main road due to which people are facing lot of inconvenience.
According to Pramodh Sawanth, convenor of People of Ponda (PoP) interest of public the sewerage work is progressing and the authorities will start digging the main road of NH passing opposite the Almeida High School, Ponda near Princess Heritage Building soon. He further demanded that this work should be undertaken during the Christmas holidays and complained that contractor is not ready to listen to public.
According to Sawant, if the work is undertaken during school hours it will create lot of hardship to students and the public. The bus stand is located nearby and considering the fact that people should get access to free movement on this road; the sewerage work can be best undertaken during Christmas holidays as there will be no rush of students and their parents.
