MARGAO: The Telaulim gram sabha on Sunday demanded that the government provide grants to the panchayat to harvest rain water as advised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his letter to sarpanchas.
Villager Anthony Peres strongly objected to the government letter asking panchayats to identify land for garbage management and argued that the backyards in the village are capable enough to deal with the garbage generated by the household.
However, the villagers resolved that if it is mandatory for the panchayat to have a site for garbage management then the government should acquire the land and give it to the panchayat.
