The construction of third Mandovi bridge may be debated and discussed for long but it has suddenly become a nightmare for the commuters on Mapusa to Panjim road.
The bridge work had begun almost two years ago now and will surely take another year to complete, which means the commuters will have to suffer for another year.
Also with the increase in number of vehicles, huge traffic jams are witnessed from O’Coqueiro Circle to Mandovi bridge during peak hours.
Ever since the work on the third bridge has started, residents of Penha de Franca, especially, the residents of Supra Valley, Journalists Colony, Ekta Nagar, Pundalik Nagar and Secretariat areas are ‘suffering patiently’ due to the massive traffic jams.
Also the road stretch from Mandovi bridges up to Sai Service Circle is in a pathetic state.
The movement of heavy machinery is responsible for deterioration of the road till the bridge construction site, as a result motorists face a lot of inconvenience.
