Panjim: Two independent candidates for the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) elections have joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa, while the party is supporting another two candidates at the elections.
Independent candidates Umesh Kauthankar from Colvale and Pundalik Dhargalkar from Dhargal have already joined AAP though they continue to be independent candidates.

AAP is also supporting Cecille Rodrigues in Taleigao and Abdul Kadir Shaikh in Davorlim. Both Cecille and Abdul Kadir are independent candidates in their respective constituencies.
Kauthankar joined AAP at a Veez Andolan meeting at Thivim making him the 3rd independent candidate for ZP elections joining the party.
AAP Goa Convener Rahul Mhambre while welcoming Umesh said many others are queuing up to join AAP and reiterated that AAP will be the main opponent to the ruling BJP at the next assembly elections.
“By the time the Zilla Panchayat elections are completed AAP would have grown in strength and numbers to emerge as a formidable force in Goa,” he added.
