MARGAO: Two young people were killed in two separate fatal accidents reported in Cuncolim and Canacona on Wednesday. Cuncolim PI Tukaram Chavan that 26-year-old Vruta Pai Angle died when a speeding car hit her scooter in Salemadem, Cuncolim. According to the police, Vivekanand Sawant, 58, a resident of Cuncolim, drove his Maruti Omni van in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Kegdicotta towards the Cuncolim market. He crashed into the oncoming scooter driven by Angle, who fell on the road and began bleeding profusely. She was taken to the Primary Health Centre in Balli by ambulance, but was declared dead. The young woman, a resident of Sanvorcotta, was employed by a private firm.
In the second accident that took place at Loliem, Canacona, 32-year-old Valentine S.A Barrette died, while scooter-rider Anthony Fernandes, 22, was injured . Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas said that Fernandes was riding in a rash manner while proceeding to Pollem, and hit a stone on the road. He lost control of the vehicle and both he, and his pillion Barrette fell into the bushes and sustained injuries. They were taken to the Community Health centre in Canacona for treatment, and Barrette was shifted to Goa Medical College as his injuries were serious. He succumbed while receiving treatment.
