Manjim/Mapusa: An Uttar Pradesh native has been taken into custody by the Crime Branch (CB) for peddling drugs in Mapusa, as Goa is recording huge influx of domestic tourists.
The CB team informed that Brijesh Kumar, hailing from Jaunpur was caught red-handed with 5 kg ganja valued at Rs 5 lakh during a raid in the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday. The alleged drug peddler has confessed to transporting drugs for the tourist season.

The police stations, CB and the Anti-Narcotics Cell have been on a spree to crack down on drug-related activities in the State with several arrests and seizures of upto Rs 6.16 crore this year. Just recently, Pernem Police busted a massive cannabis farm from the house of a Goan family and seized drugs worth around Rs 1 crore.
