PANJIM: Anjuna Police are facing a tough time in their efforts to trace the source of the drugs consumed by the two tourists who were found dead earlier this month due to drug overdose after attending night parties.
A senior officer who is aware of the progress of the investigation said that the Police have recorded the statement of the persons who were together with the youth at the party on that night to find out where the drugs were purchase.
The senior officer said that call details of all the members from the group have been sourced from the service provider to check with whom the deceased were in contact with. “We are still analysing the call details of all the members but so far nothing has been come out of the continuous efforts put in by Anjuna Police,” he said.
Sources said that police have sourced the call details going back to an entire month from the date of the deaths as well as the friend present with them. “We are dependent on the call details to find out the source of the drugs and the peddlers presence on the coast,” an officer said.
The officer also said that the CCTV footage of one of the venues has been collected by the Police and close verification is being done.
The police investigation started looking at the drug angle and finding the source of the drugs after Goa Medical College confirmed the presence of MDMA in the blood samples of the deceased.
Two youth from South India had died on August 14 after attending a night party at Vagator and the probe into the deaths is currently underway.
