MARGAO: Ending the dilemma as to who has the jurisdiction to send the Varca suicide victims for an autopsy, Colva Police, under the supervision of the Sub Divisional Magistrate, has decided to discharge the responsibility. The autopsy will be conducted on Thursday.
The decision to conduct the autopsy in Goa itself was taken following a request sent to the Salcete SDM by the Superintendent of Police of Bangalore.
Initially, there was dilemma as to who has the jurisdiction over the victims as one of the deceased youth Manjunath was out on parole in a sentence for dowry death related crime.
Colva police, who had found a Bangalore bus ticket in the pocket of Manjunath, sent a wireless message to their Karnataka counterparts seeking their assistance in identifying the three individuals who committed suicide at Varca Fatrade, on Sunday.
In response, the Bangalore police informed that Manjunath (32) was undergoing a seven-year imprisonment for abetting the suicide of his wife.
