MARGAO: With the opening of the office of Velim Congress Zilla Panchayat member Julio Fernandes on the birthday of Sarpanch of Velim Panchayat Savio D’Silva, the Congress has reasserted their fight to wrestle back the constituency in favour of Congress.

Congress leaders Girish Chodankar, Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, AICC Goa Observer Sunil Hanumannawar and others were present for the inauguration of the office.
Julio has won the ZP seat of Velim with the help of Velim Panchayat Sarpanch Savio, who celebrated his Birthday on Sunday.
Savio is the prominent name in the contenders against the present ruling Velim BJP MLA and Minister Felipe Neri Rodrigues.
Savio said that during the ZP election campaign they had promised an office of the ZP which will be a place for the people of Velim to contact Congress with their grievances. He has assured the voters of Velim that the constituency will re-emerge as the strong bastion of Congress.
